MBA International Business Degree Jobs
If you complete the Masters of Business Administration degree successfully, you are eligible to apply for jobs not just in the UK but internationally.
The world really is at your feet if you complete an MBA. If you wish to work abroad, you may find you have to steer your degree in a popular career direction for you to be eligible for as many jobs as possible.
There are many international job opportunity days staged across the UK on a regular basis and jobs are always advertised online and in trade magazines and papers. In the past few years, there has been a decline in international job opportunities due to the global economic crisis, but fortunately this situation is improving gradually.
Finance, Marketing and Sales
These three areas of employment encompass a vast proportion of the jobs available abroad. If you are lucky enough to get in with a very large company, frequent travel to other countries could be part of your job. America and China currently dominate the scene when it comes to overseas jobs but with travel as an added bonus you could be making good money and seeing the world at the same time.
Finance managers are frequently being employed, as are managers in the fields of sales, advertising and marketing. The type of job opportunity which will be open to you will also depend on your own work experience to date. Positions such as financial officer, financial analyst and marketing manager are often advertised. These companies will only take on the very best employees and you will have to prove you are worth employing and having them pay for your work permits in that country.
Information technology is also another lucrative area when it comes to international business degree job opportunities. Again, managers are frequently employed by larger companies and the job may well involve some frequent travelling to other countries away from your base.
This is an area in which work expertise is highly valued and your degree will have to have been steered in this direction for you to succeed in obtaining a position abroad. In theory, opportunities for MBA graduates can be applied for by any student, but the competition is tough and you will have to be the very best to get through.
Getting a Job Abroad
Basically, you have to display a strong desire to succeed and have completed an MBA successfully in order to obtain a position. The hiring company has to have sufficient confidence in you to be willing to pay your fees for working in that country. In some cases, if you are very talented, you may be able to get work experience (or even paid work) whilst you are still taking your MBA. This is difficult to obtain, but still possible.
You may decide that taking the MBA abroad in the first instance increases their chances of success in the long term. However, before you even think about doing this, ask yourself what your ultimate career goal is and act accordingly.
There are jobs available in many countries, though language barriers may prove a problem in some. If you do not speak the language fluently there is hardly any chance of you working in that country on a full time basis. The best plan of action is to decide what you want to achieve and where you want to work when you are first considering taking the MBA. Then the only thing left to do is to keep trying by applying for some of the positions out there in your country of choice.
